47″ LG or 46″ Samsung?

LG 47-inch 1080p 120 Hz LCD HDTV

Samsung 46-inch 1080p 60 Hz LCD HDTV

As far as I can see the only difference is 1″ and the 60 Hz vs 120 Hz

But is Hz that important? I have a Sony Bravia 40″ 1080p 60 Hz it looks just perfect.
$769.00 – LG
$699.00 – Samsung

I would give my vote for Samsung. I have had many Samsung products and none have failed for me. That says a lot. LG? Back in the day, they were known as GoldStar, which was the leading brand sold at discount stores like K-Mart – they were never exactly what you would call a “cutting edge” manufacturer. Per the other responder’s advice, I googled “panel lottery” and according to what I read, LG is the top offender in this practice, not Samsung. Even so, if the TV you bring home doesn’t look as good as the one you saw at the store, then you ought to return it. As for the difference between the 60Hz and 120Hz models, I would suggest that you visually compare the models side by side (if possible) viewing a live broadcast of a sporting event (or anything with lots of motion). If you can see a noticeable difference, then you might want to consider a 120Hz model.
