Phillips 42 "LCD Soundsystem, but no video?
I have a 3 year old Phillips 42 "LCD HD TV, which suddenly decided to die, I'm concerned. It was working fine the night before, and then suddenly the next morning I turned it on and there was no video. The sound works well, but there is nothing to the screen, it all black, as if its turned off. I've tried to have of turning over several times and I tried, it pulled off for 8 hours at a time, and I followed the technical support proposal pulling it on during their leave to do a reset then it back into the wall. Has anyone had a similar problem or knows Suggestions, I'm not a TV repair person, but I do know my way through internal electronic components and am aware of to avoid the danger of electric shock, and like them. Is there anything special I should look? Thanks.
Try this: turn off the lights in the room, while very close to the operation of the TV (you have to one channel), and shine a flashlight on the screen. If you see the faint image, you lose the set backlight. The problem is either the backlight inverter, something else that controls and powers the backlight or the fluorescent backlight itself. Replacing the inverter board is not too difficult for someone with rudimentary experience in electronics, but you're really only guess that the inverter is the problem. The proper way to address the crowd, is it a professional . take One possible problem: a 3-year-old Phillips LCD is not really worth a lot, and the repair costs could near the cost of a replacement TV.
