TV’s – Difference between 50HZ & 60HZ?
I have seen a TV I want to buy. The only thing holding me back is that it says its 50HZ. Am I right in thinking that you need a TV to be 60HZ for use with a lot of things including most games on my Xbox 360?
It’s a good TV 37inch LG LCD 1080P High Definition. I only want it though if I know it will play all games from my Xbox 360.

It has to do with the frequency of electricity. North America is 60Hz based so North American TVs are called 60Hz sets. Europe and a lot of the rest of the world is 50Hz based and so those sets are called 50Hz. This is used as as descriptor because the the frequency of electricity is used as a baseline for other aspects (frame rate for example).
If you buy a 50Hz TV, then you need to buy a 50Hz XBox 360 (so buy it in Europe). That’s all that would be required to make it work. Same would go with any other device you bought (PS3, BluRay, DVD Player, Receiver). If you live in a 50Hz country and that’s where you bought your Xbox 360, then it will be a 50Hz Xbox and will work on a 50Hz TV.
