60hz vs 120hz? Anyone own both, or has owned both, and what is the difference?
Narrowed down two TVs, both LG, but the deciding factor is the size and quality. I am new to the HDTV world, so some experienced viewers please help me out with some info. Is the 120hz worth it compared to 60hz?
LG LED 32″ 1080 120hz 2.4ms with 1million:1 dynamic contrast
LG LCD 42″ 1080 60hz 5ms with 100,000:1 dynamic contrast
Which is the better/more educated decision. They cost the same. Size vs quality? even though both are good?

LCD TV vs LED TV ( LCD-LED BACK LIGHT )
LED TV is improvement and refine from standard LCD TV, not so simple as difference in ” back light “.
LED TV provide much more ” sharper ” pictures with better contrast ratio / brightness , pure dark colour / black colour than LCD TV.
60 HZ vs 120 HZ refresh rate.
Due to response time from 2ms to 8 ms ( depends of maker-models ) All LCD/LED TV with motion blur.
motion blur can be easily noticeable from big screen TV especial from any ” fast moving image ” -sports soccer / games . the more biggest screen , the more ” motion blur ” you able to notice , but our eye usually don’t notice any motion blur from small screen 24 inc and below. ( is also one of the main reason, TV maker don’t make any 15-24 inc with 120 HZ refresh rate ).
to reduced motion blur is Double the speed of refresh rate from standard 60 HZ to 120 HZ even 240 HZ and lower drown the response time , even just 1ms make great difference but that always cost much more. 120 HZ refresh rate models provide more smooth pictures , unless you don’t really watch sports movies / play games than standard 60 HZ is okay, even that is advices to get 120 HZ refresh rate models for smooth quality pictures. significant difference between 60 HZ and 120 HZ., it make comfortable smooth pictures to our eye.
Compare the above LG .
32 inc LED TV any time much better performance than 42 inc LCD TV .
of course big screen TV more enjoyable than small screen in some area . but 42 inc LCD TV with 60 HZ is not really good enough. i cannot said the LG LCD 42″ 1080 60hz 5ms with 100,000:1 dynamic contrast models is ” bad “, if you requirement is not that high, still one of the good / reliable big screen LCD TV compare to other brand- same range of models. of course , compare to LED TV is totally ” out “.
