is a 700:1 contrast ratio good or bad?
i bought a 19″ lcd hd tv with 1080i and 480p and 720p and wanna know if the contrast is good and what is the contrast
The highest contrast ratio that the human eye can detect at any given moment is about 1500:1. So, anything over that is overrated. Besides, there’s no official standard for measuring it. So, it’s not very meaningful.
700:1 isn’t bad, but it’s not great. What you’ll probably notice is when you have the brighness of the TV up at a level where you can see the picture OK, what’s supposed to be a black screen will have a bit more of a glow to it than a TV with a better contrast ratio.
