If I have a LCD flat screen tv will I still need a converter box or just an antenna?
I have a 37″ Insignia LCD flatscreen but I don’t have cable. Will I need a digital converter box to get regular tv or can I just use an antenna?
If you’re in the U.S. and you bought the TV in the U.S. any time after mid-2007, you don’t need a converter. It has the necessary tuner for over-the-air digital TV.
You do need a very good antenna, the best you can muster. For a personalized recommendation, put your local info in the web site below for a list of channels you should be able to receive and what antenna is recommended.
Be prepared for the possibility that an indoor antenna will not be satisfactory. They rarely get all of the available channels unless you’re really close to the transmitting towers.
