Buying An LCD TV : The Basics Explained
An LCD TV is a great addition to any living room, especially for people who watch more than a couple of hours of TV each day. The picture and sound are fantastic, and whatever happens to be on the screen is really bought to life. The merits of these TVs have long been known, but until the last year the price of them put them out of most people’s reach. No more though! You can now get yourself a good quality cheap LCD TV from lots of different places. If you are ready to take advantage of the recent fall in prices, then the following tips will help you decide which LCD TV is right for you…
- Know what size you want
A bigger screen size does not necessarily give you a better viewing experience; it all depends on how far away from your TV you sit. As a rough guide, a 30 inch TV works best if you sit 4 feet from your screen, and a 50 inch TV works best if you sit 12 feet from your screen. A huge TV in a small room will not only look out of place, but you will also be sitting too close to it to get the full benefits.
- Find out a bit about each brand
As with all types of electrical goods, the brand you opt for is important. The well known brands are, of course, generally more expensive, but that does not mean that they are the best. If you were pleased with the last brand of TV that you bought then buying an LCD TV from the same manufacturer is a good idea. Alternatively, you can look online for reviews of the best selling TVs by the various manufacturers.
- View it from all sides
When viewed from an angle, the picture on a LCD TV will dim slightly. This is definitely something to consider, because when you bring a TV back to your house not everyone will be able to view it from a directly frontal position. Some dimming from a side angle is inevitable, but the level of dimming varies quite substantially. So, before making a final decision on which LCD TV to buy, be sure to check out the picture quality when looked at from an angle.
- Do not settle for anything but high resolution
The resolution of the screen on an LCD TV is the most important factor as far as the quality of the picture is concerned. A large screen with a low resolution will more than likely result in a viewing experience that you are not satisfied with. If your budget means that you have to choose between a high resolution or a big screen, then you should always opt for a high resolution.
