Comcast high definition box using HDMI to DVI small screen seen…..?
Im having problems connecting my cable to my plasma tv. Im using and HDMI to DVI cable running from my HD comcast box. THe problem is not the audio since I know DVI carries no audio. The problem is the resolution I get with the screen on the tv. The actual picture is smaller than my whole screen. Played with the options in screen size but I cant access the full screen option on the menu. Its not highlighted for some reason. Any help would be awesome.
Note: The following will work if you have a Scientific Atlanta, Pace, or Cisco cable box with Comcast
Power on your tv, off your cable box
Set your tv settings to wide, full, or 16:9
Press Guide and Info on your cable box.
On the remote, press B for High Definition mode
Choose the option for Advanced setup
Choose the option for 16:9 tv
Follow the instructions for choosing which resolutions to display. I suggest 1080i and 480p standard. NOT 480p widescreen.
After choosing which resolutions to display, hit exit and power on cable box.
Press menu twice and scroll down to where you can select the display format near the bottom, should see options like Fixed, Upconvert1, upconvert2 and either pass thru or auto dvi/hdmi. Select either pass thru or auto dvi/hdmi.
No the only time you should see any kind of pars is side bars on an hd channel that is not broadcasting hd at the moment, or movies shown in true widescreen, which is wider than 16:9 and you’ll have top/bottom bars
