Is it much of a difference in clarity between a 1080i (720p) vs 1080p on a 32 "tv?
I'm looking forward to my TV upgrade this year. I currenty have a flat CRT TV non HD. I have a small living room and want to go bigger than 32 "because I most 5-7 ft is to sit by the TV. I have a Wii, which can output 480p, and have an Xbox 360th first I've heard, when blue ray and HDDVD is finally to 1080p. I have with the Idea of building a home theater PC, but not have been toying with that yet. Either I think the 1280×720 resolution should be good enough for the HTPC. When I was about one 60 "TV I would have almost definitely get the 1080p, but that's not the case. From what I have read are not even really 1080ps on the market yet
Here's a good article that tells a little bit resolution vs. screen size: http://forum.ecoustics.com/bbs/messages/34579/284986.html your viewing distance and have a lot of screen size with the ability to tell the difference 720-1080 contents to tell. Also note, if due to the increased resolution, You are in a position closer to the TV as you would sit with a regular SD CRT TV. You'll probably be OK with a 42 "TV Here is a quote from the article:". In other words, the ideal viewing distance for a 42 "720p display, for example, is 7.7 meters. If you view it closer than 7.7 meters, most people be able to see individual pixels, but at distances of more than 7.7 meters, you can not see them. In the case of a 42 "1080p display is the ideal viewing distance only 5.5 meters – beyond that you can not see the pixels and you can not really appreciate the full resolution of the display. In other words, it would be virtually impossible to differentiate between a 42 "720p LCD and 42" 1080p to distinguish at a distance of about six feet or more. "
