Should I get a 2 port USB 3.0 PCI card or a 5 port USB 2.0 card?
I haven’t run out of USB ports, I’ve run out of USB bandwidth because I have a HD webcam, USB sound card, bluetooth adaptor, TV tuner, keyboard, mouse, printer, card reader etc. so they won’t all work at the same time I get an error message that says I need more bandwidth.
Which PCI card will be better for my situation?
a 5 port USB 2.0 card simply because you don’t need the speed for a single device but multiple. a USB 3.0 slot will allow a single device to transfer at up to 5Gbit/s. however none of your devices will be able to transfer at nearly this rate, so USB 3.0 is not at all necessary. None of your devices require the extra power supplied by the USB 3.0 port. On the other hand you will be ready for the faster devices in that are coming out in the near future.
