Panasonic VIERA TC-P42ST30 42-Inch 1080p 3D Plasma HIGH DEFINITION – Best 3D Full HD 42″ TV For Under A Grand

I highly recommend DEBORAH Nice’s panel prep method. Even if you “accidentally” watched an hour or two of regular content, just start it now and watch anymore. I know that the idea is to get even pixel growing old for accuracy of settings, but I presume doing this also results in sharper colors, with less bleeding.

I investigate the entire thread over on High Def Junkies forum regarding the brightness flux. Now I’ve been keeping key eye on this Panasonic VIERA TC-P42ST30 42-Inch 1080p 3D Plasma HDTV since I aquired it (it’s my 4th counting returns of 3 GT25′s) and I did not noticed a problem with perfection adjustments during viewing. However, after reading the thread I decided i would pay more attention. To test irrespective of whether my TV suffered from brightness flux, I watched a movie that i thought would be an excellent test out, Dark City on BD, Director’s structure.

All I can say is i always was very impressed with how my ST30 handled this movie. If anyone knows it, you know that Dark City is filmed almost entirely in this eery night/twilight background. There are a great deal of scenes with inky black backgrounds, really brightly lit lights, and plenty of dark areas and contours. This TV really passed with flying colors. I actually got up frequency to go stare at the screen by carrying out a particularly dark scene with good variety of bright localized lighting and We could not see any brightness flux, and any light bleeding into dark regions, etc…

Don’t spend more than you have to! We already done the research for you.

Tried that “binary butterscotch” hi outl jpeg that someone posted a video of done to you Tube with his GT30 doing obvious flickering, and the only thing I saw was an unusually brief moment of darkening of the blacks while in the picture and then it was steady.

Watched the opening scenes of Inception because someone on the thread mentioned their set did numerous this brightness flux on the first of all 11 minutes… nothing… lights and darks were rock solid.

Now, I thought that I encountered an awfully slight version of this issue singular when watching hockey in 1080i concerning digital network broadcast. But I monitored hockey again yesterday, same channel, and I realized what I saw was the unit’s interpretation from the camera flashes from people in the stadium sitting outside of the camera but out of view, adding a kind of backlighting effect with their flashes. Never once did the white ice rink improve brightness or shades.

As a issue of fact, the only thing I can make that even comes close to being called these types of problem is if I have the white slide in the screen from the D Nice panel prep method and I start the ST30′s main menu. Then I can see the white dim noticeably. However again, that’s only when viewing all the slides.

Now again, I’m a newb this also is an uncalibrated set, but I definitely noticed the panel changing as i broke it in. The ST30′s are considered particularly… I dunno how to mention it… stiff, out of the box. Colors looked a bit dull it looked like the TV really didn’t recognize how to handle gradients, etc… but after your 100 hour panel prep, I really noticed images looking very sharp, shades bright and well defined, no bleeding into one another. They seemed more accurate. Fast motion scenes held their color well as they quickly passed across the pixels. Then I really noticed another marked enchancment right around 180 -190 hours.

Today i want to see… about the only other issue is after i choose 48hz while watching something on BD along with the player set to 24p I cane easily see flickering in bright lights on the screen. When I change to 60hz, the item disappears.

The buzzing has not gotten any louder in the slightest. It’s quite soft. Heck, it vibrates from the same frequency as my fridge motor so for everybody I know it could all be caused by dirty electricity from the utilities. They operate at 60hz so there has to be some interference. Anyway, I can only hear the buzzing with audio off and sitting within 6 feet in the TV and even then the other electrical sounds inside your home tend to drown it out. It does change pitch with different colors but since i have can hear the high-pitched whine coming from a CRT tv from any room in your house it really doesn’t bother me whatsoever. Of all my electronics the TV is probably the most quiet of the bunch.

Exactly where dead/stuck pixels I only have a pair of. One goes dark on blue slides andf the other goes dark on red slides. We can live with that because they both fire properly on all the colors.

I have not been allowed to watch any native 3D content but (waiting for my Avatar BD), but 2D-3D is cool to see at first but after a few years it’s not really noticeable unless there’s a graphic up on the screen in which case you really get the depth perception. The tv syncs up easily with my Xpand active shutter 3D glasses.

Oh yes, My organization is getting audio stutter on Netflix, however that only started recently, so for now I’m assuming it might be fixed with a firmware update. Plus it’s not that big of your deal for me because we enjoy the DMP-BDT210 and that Netflix shows more movie choices anyway for some reason so we primarily use it regarding streaming movies.

In conclusion, I know the ST30 line would be the lower, high end model and I’m sure it is far from perfect. But I really think it is the best value on the market for that 42″ full HD, 3D television for less than $1000. I am definitely a content ST30 owner.
