I have a mitsubishi 52 inch dlp tv the tv started flickering and then went dark.?
the lamp indicator went red so i figured it was time to change the light bulb,i tried the old one i had replaced earlier with same results. so i ordered and installed a new bulb.
So after all this when the tv turns on the i can see the lamp light momentarily but no picture then the tv shuts down and red lamp indicator comes back on also the tv does not respond to input on front panel or remote except for power button tv is a model wd 52525 dlp hd tv any suggestions?
It MIGHT be the lamp’s thermistor….
It MIGHT be the lamp’s power supply…
It MIGHT be the color wheel, although I find that UNLIKELY….
I suggest you have a Mitsubishi authorized servicer come to your home and inspect the thermistor and check the lamp power supply….
If you press the DEVICE and MENU button together on the front panel and hold them for 8 seconds, a trouble code will flash.
There are 2 sections of flashes….with a quick pause in between the flashes, then a LONGER pause.
Count them
1-2 is Normal operation
3-4 is Abnormal Lamp
3-8 is Excess Lamp Temperature
And there’s more choices too….
You should see ONE LONG lamp light, then a burst of flashes, PAUSE….a second burst of flashes, then a LONGER pause. Then it repeats the flashes. Pause Flashes….Then the LONGER PAUSE again. It does this 3 times then stops…you can press the buttons and hold them for 8 seconds to re-read them if you want….
Get those flash patterns….
Now, you can LOOK at the LEDs for an answer too…
If the STATUS LED stays YELLOW after it shuts down , that’s a temperature failure….
IF the status lamp blinks RED after shutdown that’s a FAN that’s bad.
IF the LAMP light stays red after shutdown, it’s the LAMP or ballast
