Can I update the firmware to get Freeview HD on a LG TV?
I recently purchased a LG TV with a Freeview receiver, but now Freeview HD is available can LG update the firmware to allow it to utilise the Freeview HD signal or is the hardware required different?
No. The Freeview HD signal uses new broadcast technology (DVB-T2) and so new hardware is required to receive it. Your existing Freeview receiver will continue to receive SD channels, so in your case, you’d only need to connect a Freeview HD box to your TV.
