What is going to happen to my TV on June 12th when it changes to DTV?
Ok. I have a 22 inch HDTV in my room 1080I. It isnt hooked up to comcast cable which my house. Just standard cable. However I still am able to get about half a dozen to dozen HD channels that are DT on some. Does that mean my TV will be all HD come june 12th?
nothing will happen. Here is why:
Let’s say you have channel 52 and it’s not in HD. Unless the people who own channel 52 change their entire building to broadcast HD, it will not be in HD on friday.
The only difference that will happen on friday is that any tv station who is broadcasting an analog signal over the air (the tv stations that do your local news) will broadcast in digital. That means they *might* change their channel to a different channel… or not. Like let’s pretend you have an NBC affiliate that in your area broadcasts at channel 10. But on cable they put NBC10 on channel 28. They *might* change that on friday. However, it’s likely they probably won’t. You can ask your cable tv people if you want, though.
Broadcasting in HD is a major process, I know. When a channel wants to change itself to HD they need to spend a lot of money and change all of their equipment, which takes months. So no channels will suddenly change to HD on friday.
