You’ve got an issue converting some files shot with a Panasonic P2 camera to hd avis. They’re all saved to .MXF format on disk. Is there any PC-based stand alone app that allows to either view them or convert them to AVI or MOV? At the moment the only option is to use the iOrgSoft MXF Converter.

I own a Panasonic P2HD cam and the trouble is that I now should convert all these clip (MXF-format) in AVI-clips to deliver to the TV station.

I just bought an HD P2 Panasonic camera and I’m having trouble getting my files converted to something usable. The files are MXF and no programs I know recognize that. So is there a converter or a program I need to make this better? Thanks.

I have a Panasonic AG-HVX200 and have been shooting DVCPROHD onto P2 cards. For ease of use, I’m considering converting the original MXF files into DVCPROHD AVI files. Does anyone know if there is a quality loss in this conversion?
Material eXchange Format (MXF) is a container format for professional digital video and audio media defined by a set of SMPTE standards. MXF is a “container” or “wrapper” format which supports a number of different streams of coded “essence”, encoded with any of a variety of codecs, together with a metadata wrapper which describes the material contained within the MXF file. DVCPRO HD is codified as SMPTE 370M; the DVCPRO HD tape format is SMPTE 371M, and the MXF Op-Atom format used for DVCPRO HD on P2 cards is SMPTE 390M.
