
My Direct TV HD DVR reciever looses sound and has to be turned off and on to restore. This happens on a daily?
basis. Any suggestions for fixing this problem ?
How have you determined it is the DVR, as opposed to the TV itself?
Are you using HDMI to get the sound to the TV or are you using some other connection method?
As an example, if the sound works just fine with a DVR connected to your TV (assuming the sound comes from the TV), this would prove the problem is not with the TV itself.
Likewise, if you were using HDMI, then you might try one of the other connection methods (say the red and white RCA jacks) which would prove it isn’t a cable problem and that the problem isn’t just isolated to a particular input or output.
If you have done all of those normal troubleshooting steps and all the evidence still points toward the receiver, then the only thing you can do is report your findings to Directv and insist they replace the receiver.
