Why won’t my HD cable box converter stay on the 1080i setting?
I have a Samsung, 46″ 1080p TV and everything is hooked up to a Yamaha Receiver. The problem is, when you turn the TV on (the cable box is always on) the cable box resets itself to 720p (nine out of ten times) no matter what channel it’s on. It even occurs if you stay within the HD channels offered by my cable provider (Charter Communications). I can go in and reset it back to 1080i, but I’m getting frustrated with having to do this on a daily basis. Any thoughts or suggestions as to why this may be happening? it is out of my control? or is there something that I can do to keep it at the setting I want it at?
Thank you in advance
This might be because the hdmi connection is 2 way (for copy protection purposes). When you turn the TV off, the chip in the cable box thinks something is wrong and resets itself to 720p. Maybe you should turn the converter off first before you turn off anything connected to it. Then when you turn the TV on, turn the cable box on lastly.
