does Indoor UHF/HDTV Digital TV Antenna really works? i need an antena for my HDTV? any sugestions?

i have an old high definition tv.
i just moved and it gonna take comcast 2 weeks to install my cable.
i would like to see the NFL games on HD. the problem is that sinse i dont have a cable box, my tv dont pick up the local channels.
i’ve been thinking on purchasing a cheep indoor HD antesa.

would i be waisting my time?

“Can HDTVs really work with an antenna?” Absolutely yes!
But whether you can receive HDTV or not (assuming there’s a good signal on the air to pick up) depends on the tuner of your HDTV, not whether the antenna says its a “digital” or “HD” antenna or not.
If your TV has a digital tuner (ATSC for the USA) then yes.
If it doesn’t (it was called an “HDTV Ready” TV and must have an external HD source to view HD), then no.
I, too, am using the same VHF/UHF antenna I used on my old analog SD CRT set and it works just fine for my new flat panel LCD HDTV. The antenna doesn’t care if the video is analog or digital or SD or HD or even if it’s video at all — only that the radio waves are in the VHF or UHF band.
