Which is better, a tv with a built in hd tuner or an external set top box?
If you have a built in tuner or a standard HD set top box they are about the same, however if you want to record off freeview then you should get a DVR (digital video recorder) that you link to your tv via a scart or HDMI cable, then you can record off Freeview. The only real advantage of having a built in tuner it that you gain more space/there is slightly less clutter,less cables. Another thing is with a HD Freeview box is that you do need to pay an installation cost to put a satellite dish up on your home and of course not all home owners are permitted to have up Satellite dishes especially if they live in a grade listed building, heritage site etc.
