Huge Panasonic 3D TV Exceeds Expectations
The UK seems to suffering from television hysteria at the moment. Not just ‘Full HD’ or the digital switchover but 3D television too. Three-dimensional technology seems to be invading our television channels, with an increasing amount of movies and sport beginning to use 3D technology. Sony and Panasonic are just a couple of the leading manufacturers to get in on the act. So with 3D technology becoming integral to the marketing strategy of electrical brands, but some of the biggest names on the market are looking to tap in to the other end of the market.
A new 32-inch, 3D liquid crystal display Sony TV is set to hit stores in March. Sony said it is aiming to promote a demand for smaller 3D sets and exploit a relatively untouched sector. At the other end of the spectrum, the huge 152-inch Panasonic TV with 3D plasma display screen has exceeded all expectations since its release in July 2010.
Panasonic have received more than 300 inquiries about the TVs in the 6 months after it was released. The colossal televisions carry a price tag of £447,028 which perpetually rises to £894,056 when all the peripheral equipment is factored in. So far, 31 units ordered have been ordered. A majority have sales have been made by businesses in Japan, the US, Europe and Asia. The sold screens are predominantly used in showrooms and conference centres. One unit was reputedly bought by a billionaire in the Middle East for home entertainment purposes. The screen is reproduces life-size images of people and is 3.4-meter wide and 1.8-meter high. Panasonic hope to sell 50 sets by the end of the fiscal year in March.Alternatively, Sony believes that bigger isn’t always better. The company announced that it is part if their strategy to market accessible 3D TVs.
