Installing A Digital TV Antenna At Home

There are a number of different ways to receive digital television. The antenna is the most popular way to receive digital transmissions. Take note that an antenna also referred to as an aerial in some countries. Of course, there are multitude of ways to receive digital television too. Here is a a short list of TV antenna installation tips that could help you install a digital TV antenna. But if you don’t think you can, it’s better to call someone else to do it.

Install it at a height that is well over your house’s. Installation should be as high as possible. UHF transmissions depend on the height of the receiver. A higher installation means there are less things obstructing the signal between the tower and the antenna. The rooftop is an ideal place to set up your antenna especially if you live far from the signal tower.

Install the antenna outdoors. Indoor installation is easier and safer, but an outdoor installation is recommended. Installing the antenna indoors could weaken the signal. If you want to get the best reception and signal gain you need to get an outdoor antenna. This is because outdoor antennas can often be installed higher which means that they can get a better signal. Sometimes mounting your antenna in an attic can work quite well but again the digital signal will be forced to penetrate a roof before it reaches your antenna. Indoor antennas can get the job done but you will have to deal with less channels.

Be sure to face the front of the antenna towards the transmitting tower. {Do your research and figure out where the closest TV transmitting tower is. Do some research work, find out where the nearest transmission tower is and be sure to face the front of your antenna toward it. If you are not sure where the nearest antenna tower is, you can search online or go to your signal provider’s website}.

The connectors must be protected from rain by a sealant. If the antenna gets damaged, signal loss is imminent. Splitters may lead to signal loss. You should also learn how to ground your antenna properly. This can be done using a coaxial surge protector. If you don’t have this, your antenna might be burnt by lightning.
