3D TV is here
3D TV Revolution
3D television makers hope to bring the experience of ‘Avatar’ into peoples homes and revitalize the entire market.
Of course the big stumbling block right now is that just like the theater, to enjoy 3D you need to wear glasses. In one sense the broadcast front is moving faster than the hardware manufacturers. Cable TV supplier Comcast has a surprise for the couple of golf devotees who are lucky enough to have purchased a 3DTV for their home. Comcast’s announcement has come in a significantly lucky time.
Beleaguered golfer Tiger Wood’s announced his return to competitive golf will come at this years Masters. The big question now is whether 3DTV will ever gain the traction HDTV has over the past decade or will it be a niche product that only a few will enjoy. These images are also being applied to computer games and soon cable TV. The experience combined with surround sound, and a good home entertainment system give a in the picture feeling and sensation.
In The Sky TV headquarters, located in West London, researchers have purchased old documentary films not originally made for 3D. The result is old documentaries filmed in the wild can be re-released in 3D format providing new experiences with old content.
Without special glasses, the viewer running a 3D screen can only see a dim image. The glasses are set up so each lens has a phased picture slightly offset from the other. The picture visualized through the glasses provides the 3D effect and provides the out of TV experience most people find quite fascinating.
The 3D TV experience will be new for at home movie enthusiasts. Of course another contributing factor could be the arrival of 480Hz TVs as well.
integral wi-fi as standard! Not before time is what I say! I find it incredible that, in this day and age you have to buy an additional receiver to get wi-fi internet access on your TV. It has certainly got a lot easier over the past year or so, but this one is an absolute breeze.
Set up was an absolute breeze, all the way through. In fact, the set simply recognised it all! It was a real breathe of fresh air compared to some set ups I’ve done. You need an IQ of 217 to do some of these set ups. Remember us consumers are simple souls, so massive plaudits for Toshiba on this aspect. The sales brochure does suggest new speaker technology and better sound, but, in truth, it’s marginal at best. Don’t get me wrong it’s absolutely fine for normal watching, but if you want a better experience then you’ll need a surround system and speakers. However, in truth you need that with any HD set, so it’s no different.
Panasonic
By delivering images in each eyeball separately and a split second apart, 3D effects are made possible. The active shutter glasses are equally top-performing and there is no sign of a flickering or image distortion.
Everything just seems to pop out of the box! It is still one of the TVs offering the best experience in 3dtv-1080p.
If you are looking for a TV to watch 3D entertainment content, this will be the one. The 3D effects are a bit below par especially in the immediate foreground.
