Does LCD TV make a really big difference in terms of electricity usage as oppose to plasma TV?
I want to buy plasma TV because it’s cheaper but would I be spending equal amount if i purchase LCD-TV in the long run?
It depends!
If you compare a entry-level LCD with an entry-level Plasma TV. They will use about the same amount of energy! If you compare a entry-level LCD with a High-end Plasma TV, then things will be different.
Higher end models have added features and better panel technology in them and these things can affect energy usage. Also…keep in mind that Plasma TVs use less energy to produce dark images, and more energy to produce light images. LCDs use a flat amount of energy regardless of what’s on!
Overall…today’s Plasma TVs are the most energy efficient they’ve ever been! And if they do use more energy then a LCD…it won’t be noticeable on your energy bill! And what brand you go with also bares on how much you pay in the long run! Some brands are a lot less reliable and require more money down the road.
