Buying A New TV

Maybe it’s about time I considered a new Television. Supposedly, portable Hitachi’s are out and sleek and sexy HD widescreens are so in right now. As long as I get to watch The Antiques Roadshow every Sunday I don’t care; I’d watch TV whilst straddling Michael Aspel, riding him around like a mule, whilst he rattled on about a rare Edwardian pin cushion with intricate lacing and simply divine silk finishing. Maybe it is time for a new TV, I mean I do deserve it after all; I mean who deserves brand new things more than me?

So where do I start? I’m not exactly ‘tech-savvy’ but I do have some grasp of new technology. Anything will be an improvement on the Hitachi portable, I mean a Hitachi Portable; it’s quite amazing that my old Hitachi portable has stayed by my side all these years, like a loyal but essentially unloved partner. As soon as I awake in my dingy bed with a mattress as thin as Jacobs Cream Cracker, my Hitachi portable is there on my bedside cabinet yearning to be used, to be turned on. Regrettably, I solemnly give it a smile and roll over. It’s a deep-seated guilt I’ve harboured for a number of years. Yes I know I shouldn’t be leading it on with false smiles and irresistible anecdotes on Edwardian heirlooms. Sometimes I sneak out to watch other TVs at my friend’s house, but keep stum, it’s an inanimate object.

Guilt ridden and with a heavy conscious, I began my search for a new television. I read LCD manufacturers are stepping up their efforts to speed up their product’s refresh rates. There has been much talking about 120Hz, 240Hz and even 480Hz which would faster motion scenes. However qualms remain on response time in LCD TVs. So I moved onto 3D TVs. 3D technology has been a huge success in cinemas, but would buying a 3D TV be suitable at this moment in time? Admittedly, Hollywood has pumped out a significant amount of 3D-dross, but undoubtedly the technology is the way forward. Before you pay out a chunk of change for a 3D TV, consider that a number of broadcasters have declined to adopt 3D technology until 3D glasses are eliminated from the picture. I found Laskys.co.uk to be keen on price for a number of electrical and electronic appliances
