Blu-Rays And 3D HDTVs Add A New Dimension To Home Entertainment
In recent years the 3D phenomenon has returned and this time it’s not in trippy red and green colours only. The newer 3D technology allows us to watch movies in 3D but in full true colour, the image looks scarily real and you could be forgiven for ducking and leaning to the side when watching a good 3D movie at the cinema.
Many 3D TVs like toshiba 55wx800 actually come with these glasses but may not have the right number for your family’s needs, fortunately you can normally buy extras or replacements if you have managed to sit on them or the dog has run off with them.
This new technology is now available in the home, with the same quality of depth and sharpness achieved with many modern 3D TVs and Blu-Ray Players that are able to transmit the picture in high definition too. You still have to wear the glasses that are similar to the ones you’ll have received in the cinema although many of the glasses for use in the home are battery powered to turn what looks like a broken and blurry image into a Stereoscopic 3D picture where the characters are literally leaping off the screen.
One of the main features to look for if you want to get a TV capable of delivering 3D pictures is the refresh rate of the screen. The refresh rate refers to how frequently the image is updated when it is showing any moving picture on the screen, this factor has become a key consideration for people buying new TVs as the higher the refresh rate then the smoother the picture will be and not look like it is stuttering.
If the refresh rate is above 120hz then it is considered as being able to display 3D pictures properly, it needs an elevated level since there will be more than one image on display at any one time, too slow and you will see that the effect doesn’t work and could become more annoying than thrilling.
Blu-Ray players are the medium that these 3D movies are used with as they can handle the large amount of data that is needed to show a 3D film as opposed to a standard 2D film. There is also the benefit of your movies b3eing displayed in high definition so the images are crystal clear and helps to make sure you are convinced about the life-likeness of the pictures you are watching come to life before you.
