Is It Time To Buy A 3D TV?
The UK is on the verge of yet another TV revolution in the shape of 3D Television. So what’s all the fuss? Watching films take on a whole new entertainment factor, Avatar set the bar high for other 3D movies to follow. In an experience like no other, the audience’s enjoyment literally takes on a new dimension. Watching Avatar is incredible, the blue skinned Na’vi of the planet Pandora are astonishingly realistic. The way we watch televised sport is also being revolutionised, with an increasing amount being filmed using 3D technology; so you can almost feel like Lionel Messi has just darted passed you. Television is changing forever, but is the time right to purchase a 3D TV?
3D technology has won our hearts in the previous two years, but is the time right for consumers to incorporate this technology into their own home entertainment systems? Admittedly, Tinseltown has pumped out a significant amount of 3D-dross, but the technology is undoubtedly superb. Not to reverberate too much commercial speak, 3D television technology liberates content from the flat confines of the TV transforming it into dynamic imagery that gives you depth to what you are watching, making you feel part of the action. Before paying out paying out a hefty amount for a 3D TV, isn’t there other technologies to utilize first, including the number of HD Televisions on the market as well as laptops that make use of LED and HD technology. Additionally, Sky’s range of 3D channels is yet to peak, would purchasing a 3D TV at this moment in time be rather wasteful and premature?
Mainstream television programming will take longer to become 3D utilized. There has been some considerable interest in 3D technology from the BBC and ITV. According to Director of Futuresource Jim Bottoms, everyday shows are unlikely to use 3D content until the special glasses become surplus which is thought to be in 5 years time. If you’re considering a 3D TV, there are a number of online retailers including Laskys.co.uk whose 3D TVs pages feature live price comparison from other online stores.
