Can I use my 26 inch TV as a monitor for a Mac Mini?
I have a 26 inch 720p TV and I want to get a Mac Mini and use this TV as the monitor. It seems the opinion of using a TV like this varies a lot. Some say 26 inches is too big for a computer monitor, some say that because its 720p it would look bad as a monitor, some say using a Tv as a monitor is a horrible idea because it doesnt show enough color. I do not plan to keep it as my monitor but I want to use it until I get a good monitor; this will probably take at least 6 months.
You’ll be fine doing this. I’ve used TV sets as large as 55″ as computer monitors in the past and have never had issues doing so. While the color argument may have been a valid one in the past (CRT TV sets had a limited color gamut when compared to CRT monitors), this is no longer the case as many midrange and high end TV sets can actually display more colors than common computer displays (the average computer display is 8 bits per color channel, while TV sets advertised as “deep color” or xvYCC are capable of 10 bits per color channel.
